President of Estonia: renewable energy is needed and opposition to offshore wind park is not understandable

Kersti Kaljulaid, the President of Estonia visited recently the island of Hiiumaa and said in an interview to the local newspaper that she does not understand the local opposition to contruct Estonia's first offshore wind farm, since renewable energy is required and it is the future of energy production.
"Wind, of course, is a type of energy that requires compensation by other production facilities and we are still weak in storing energy, but an offshore wind farm is far away and can not be heard in the bedroom, so I think it is still an agreeable method of using wind power," said the President.

"I like to look out across the see, for example in Vääna-Jõesuu, and see a few windmills in the distance. But I’m an industrial human being, I like big machines, maybe I’m not a very good example of the average person," President Kersti Kaljulaid said.
