Enefit Green is developing a wind farm in the maritime area north of Hiiumaa, which could start producing electricity after 2030.
The planned capacity of the wind farm is 1.1 GW and its expected output would cover more than half of Estonia’s current electricity consumption.
Energy consumption and affordable electricity are key drivers of economic growth. Increased production of renewable energy will bring down electricity prices for all consumers, contribute to nature conservation and ensure energy security.
Estonia has set itself the objective of producing at least as much green energy as is consumed here by 2030. In order to achieve this objective, it is necessary to construct environmentally friendly power plants on a large scale, with offshore wind energy being a suitable technology for this.
